The Severn Gilders

The Severn Gilders -  A North-West Tradition Dance Team

Severn Gilders dance 9-Men's Morris @ Festival at the EdgeOriginally formed in 1976, we take our name from the Gilders - workers who put the gold decoration on the china at the famous Coalport china  factory based on the River Severn in Shropshire. The team colours of red and black represent the coal and fire of the industrial revolution linking us to our home town of Ironbridge and the gold beads and roses link us to the Gilders. Our traditional dances are named after towns in the North West of England and dances that members of the team have written are named after the Coalport china designs.

Famous for our elegance and accuracy, the Severn Gilders have danced in festivals all over the UK and Europe.  We welcome new members. If you would like to talk to someone about joining use our Join Us contact form.
