The Ironmen

Ironman in KitThe Ironmen are a men's team who dance in the Welsh Border tradition. Originally formed in 1976 the team colours are red and black which represent the fire and coals at the birth of the industrial revolution in our home town of Ironbridge in Shropshire.   Many of our dances have been written and developed by the team and are named after the local villages and include The Much Wenlock Stick Dance, Jackfield, Horsehay, Broseley, Benthall and Wig Wig.

We dance out regularly during the year and practice [almost] every Monday at the Telford Langley Academy in Dawley in one of their excellent theatre studios.

We have performed all over the UK and a number of times in France, Spain, Germany, Ireland and Belgium, and are a friendly bunch who are always keen to find new members as our older ones get worn out so please get in touch if you fancy a go!
